Project Process
How do I get started with my metalwork project?
The first step is to contact us via phone, email, or our website form. We’ll arrange an initial consultation to discuss your requirements, which may involve a site visit for more complex projects. Following this, we’ll provide a detailed quotation outlining costs, timelines, and specifications.
Do you provide design services?
Yes, we offer design consultation for all our metalwork projects. We can work from your existing plans, collaborate with your architects or designers, or develop concepts based on your ideas and requirements. Our design approach ensures that both aesthetic and functional needs are met.
How long does a typical project take?
Project timelines vary depending on complexity, size, and current workload. A small residential project might be completed within 2-3 weeks, while larger commercial installations could take several months. During your initial consultation, we’ll provide a realistic timeframe for your specific project.
Do you install the metalwork you fabricate?
Yes, we provide complete end-to-end service including professional installation. Our experienced team ensures that all metalwork is properly fitted and finished to the highest standards. For certain projects, we can also supply fabricated items without installation if preferred.
What happens if I need changes during the project?
We understand that requirements can evolve during a project. We maintain open communication throughout the process and can accommodate reasonable changes. Any modifications that significantly impact materials, labor, or timelines may require an adjusted quotation.
Technical
What types of metals do you work with?
We work with a wide range of metals including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, and Corten (weathering) steel. The choice of metal depends on your project’s requirements, including structural needs, aesthetic preferences, and environmental conditions.
What welding techniques do you use?
Our skilled welders are proficient in various techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), stick welding, and flux-cored arc welding. We select the most appropriate method based on the materials, project specifications, and location requirements.
How do you ensure quality control?
Quality control is integrated throughout our process. We conduct material inspections, regular quality checks during fabrication, comprehensive testing before installation, and final inspections after completion. Our BS EN 1090 and ISO 3834 certifications also require adherence to strict quality management systems.
What finishes are available for metalwork?
We offer a variety of finishes including powder coating (available in virtually any color), galvanizing, paint finishes, polishing, brushing, patination, and natural weathering (for Corten steel). The appropriate finish is determined by the metal type, project requirements, and exposure conditions.
How durable is your metalwork?
Our metalwork is built to last. With proper specification, finishing, and maintenance, our structures can maintain their integrity and appearance for decades. We select appropriate materials and finishes based on each project’s environmental exposure and intended lifespan.
Commercial and Residential
Do you work with architects and designers?
Yes, we regularly collaborate with architects, interior designers, and landscape designers. We understand design intent and technical requirements, helping to realize creative visions while ensuring structural integrity and practicality.
Can you match existing metalwork for extensions or repairs?
Yes, we’re skilled at matching existing metalwork for heritage properties, extensions, or repair projects. We can replicate designs, finishes, and details to ensure new elements integrate seamlessly with existing structures.
Do you create custom designs or only work from provided plans?
We offer both services. We can work from your existing plans or create custom designs based on your requirements and inspiration. Our design approach can be as collaborative as you prefer, from simply executing provided drawings to developing concepts from initial ideas.
What types of commercial projects do you handle?
Our commercial experience spans various sectors including retail, hospitality, offices, industrial, education, and public spaces. Projects range from structural elements and security features to decorative installations and custom furniture pieces.
Do you handle planning or building regulations approval?

Our work complies with relevant building regulations, and we’re familiar with requirements for common installations such as balustrades, staircases, and structural elements.
